Each book in its red cloth covers with gilt lettering and top red dye stain. The boards are slightly worn and lightly faded. With their original unclipped DJs in good condition overall with minor edge wear and chips for Two Towers and Return of the King.A large diagonal tear to the front wrapper for Fellowship.

The foldout maps are present in excellent condition in each volume except for a small tear in one fold of one map.Original owners name inscribed neatly in ink on a fly leaf in the first two volumes. Otherwise the text blocks are clean and unmarked. The binding is sound and cocked lightly forward. See photos.
