Frank, Im thinking youre probably right about the Gone connection here. Im pretty sure Walnut Music (BMI) was owned by Eddie Portnoy (of Record Shack jazz record stores in New York). Portnoy (and brother George?) and partner Stan Feldman owned Ivy Records. They had a subsidiary Willow label (not on 45cat yet) that was distributed by George Goldners Gone label and I suspect this particular Premium label may have been another subsidiary. They also may have been in some sort of partnership with Goldner in Tee Gee Records. Walnut Music employed heavyweight writers George Weiss and Benny Benjamin for awhile, and Detroiter Kenny Martin (as on this record) who was associated with Clarence Paul before he became big-deal at Motown. Walnut Music also appear to have produced masters that were farmed out to Apt (Forevers, Cavaliers) and Hanover (Unique Teens, Clarence Paul). Morris Levy also released the odd Walnut item on Roulette, making sure his Kahl Music got half the publishing of course. Portnoy later went into partnership with Paul Winley with Porwin Records. Anyway, both tracks on this Premium 45 copyrighted by Walnut Music Nov. 25 1958.
